NEW YORK CITY YOUTH FOR CHRIST (NYCYC)
Purpose of the Project:
The purpose of this project is to teach evangelism, teach ministry organization and participate in community outreach initiatives. We will teach our young people to preach, teach and reach the community. We will take them into the community to work for already existing outreach organizations.
Our young people will tell others about Christ in many different ways, they will roll up their sleeves and get involved in the community. We will host a New York City wide training event where they will learn how to implement these techniques.
Program Objectives:
1.Develop the talents of young people
2.Bring in new members
3.Revitalize young people and motivate them toward church ownership
4.It will also teach them a healthy self-perception,
positive life
goals and a strong Christian character.
Our young people must decide what areas of ministry and/or community service they are interested in. They are then paired into teams based on mutual interest and availability. Coordinators will assign team managers who will mobilize the young people on the NYCYC community volunteer days.

sCOPE OF WORK
The entire country is suffering in the midst of these trying economic times and the New York City Area is no exception. However, there are a few neighborhoods within New York City that are experiencing the economic crisis more than others. NYCYC will hit these pre-determined neighborhoods head on.
The second phase of this project is two-tiered. The trained young people will be sent into the communities to volunteer based on the needs presented by the neighborhood organizations and based on our personal volunteer interests. As we proceed with this project, we will build an ongoing relationship with the community. Those that we help will be more inclined to hear about the gospel when they know that we genuinely care about their needs.
Once we have established a relationship, we can request permission to leave literature as appropriate, put on in house programs where applicable that tell more about what we believe. Our strategy is needs focused so the needs of those that we come into contact with must be our first priority. We will trust the indwelling of the Holy Spirit to shed light into the appropriate time to evangelize. We will make sure that we do adequate research into these organizations to make sure that their existence doesn’t oppose our beliefs. In addition, we will follow the guidelines of their organization concerning appropriate methods of evangelism and where evangelism is not immediately welcomed we will search the will of God for more indirect ways of showing Christ in us.
This project will be ongoing and will expand and broaden it’s scope with time. We will not only intensify our influence in the community, we will “increase our territory” as we search out additional regions to impact. Also, it is our intention that as our youth become more involved with this project, they will learn to enhance the talents that they already posses, cultivate the skills that they’ve learned at the training workshops and overall gain further leadership ability and put together a volunteer resume that is quite extensive. We will allow our youth to log in their community service hours so that they may receive periodic recognition for their tireless efforts. This will also be quite beneficial to them as they apply to high schools and colleges as well as to perspective employers.
