The purpose of the Queens Adventist Youth Federation is to create and sustain a resource base for all Advent youth societies and leadership within the Queens area.
The Queens Adventist Youth Federation (QAYF) is an auxiliary of the Youth Ministries Department of the Northeastern Conference of Seventh-Day Adventists. The Queens Federation was organized in 1982 to foster the mission and goals of the conference youth ministries. We are committed to planning and executing programs that will lead young men and women in Queens to accept Christ as their personal savior. We are also committed to providing training and support to youth leaders in Queens, as they work to prepare children, youth and young adults for the second coming of Christ. It is one of the 10 federated areas governed by the Constitution and Bylaws of the Northeastern Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.
Here are QAYF's six objectives:
o To enhance the spiritual growth of all Queens children, youth and young adults
o To coordinate leadership training workshops.
o To help Queens youth to develop better relationships at home, school and in their communities.
o To promote an atmosphere fro you interaction through spiritual convocations, recreational
activities and healthy living.
o To gather, record, maintain, and report statistics
o To ask God's guidance through daily prayer and study of His Word.
Central to the mission of the Queens Adventist Youth Federation is to empower young men and women with the leadership skills, educational achievement and spiritual fortitude necessary to make a lasting impact on society. We are dedicated to helping the young people in our jurisdiction achieve all the Lord has planned for their lives. The Elder Harriet C. Smith Memorial Scholarship is an example of our commitment to that goal through the arena of higher education.
Our purpose is also to make collaborative ministries that impact the community and to create programs and events that cater to the entire youth demographic. We are here to dispel the MYTH that Queens Adventist Youth Federation is only about Rally Day and Olympics.
It is the overall responsibility of the Queens Adventist Youth Federation executive staff to provide a support base for the current AY and future YA leadership. In addition, it is our overall responsibility to create opportunities for our collaborative spiritual development unity, networking and fun.
Our evangelistic goals are as follows:
- To facilitate large scale evangelism
- To create a federation wide Young Adult ministry allowing young adults a spiritual refuge
so they can vent, rejuvenate and impart the benefit of their experience on their younger youth. - To help every Queens AY society have a ministry solely intended for their specific community.
- To enhance current and create new programs that will invite unity amongst our youth in order
to create and sustain a spiritual support base. So that we can manifest the scripture:
”Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.”
